Lord Keel D’Amyan, a monstrous winged human, struggles with how he is perceived in a world that seems against him, despite his noble title. Mistrustful, paranoid, and afraid of the unknown, he aims to forge a new identity for himself overseas.

Meanwhile, the slave Lakiteras, gifted with the ability to twist fate, has become reliant on his powers and silent shadow companion to get by. A quick-witted and confident con artist, Laki fails to make meaningful decisions about his own future.

After losing their homes, both fight for a balance between the desire for independence and a desperate need for support in moving on from the past.

Uneven Keel is a mature slow-paced fantasy drama; exploring the complicated intersections between romance, friendship, personal identity, class, and power.
